Li’l Whoopi II
When a producer from The View called inquiring about my original Li’l Whoopi doll (that I had previously made on commission.) They were working on an upcoming segment and needed a small Whoopi. Since the original was not available, I found myself saying “sure, no problem, I can whip out a duplicate in no time!”
Off to work I went! Needle felting a fully jointed wool doll takes many, many hours and a lot of jabbing.
To speed up the process, Li’l Dolly Parton in-progress sacrificed her body (with a few ‘modifications’) to help us bring li’l Whoopi to life in a hurry!
Her red stilettos magically turned into Whoopi’s white sneakers. In less than a week, I brought another happy li’l Whoopi to life in wool!
I love to think that perhaps there is a ‘li’l Dolly’ in all of us!
Thanks li’l Dolly! I PROMISE to get back to you and make your new body better than ever!
I’ve made multiple versions of other dolls but I’ve never attempted to duplicate one of my creations and I must say the challenge was real.
Whoopi II was as close to the original as possible, maybe just a little better. The new Whoopi on the right looks a bit younger which is never bad, right?
As usual, the new little Felt Alive doll had to pose with her new little friends before being sent away.
I shipped Li’l Whoopi II off to The View studio and as fate would have it, the little doppelganger arrived, with perfect timing, during a photo shoot.
The segment the producers hoped to use the doll in didn’t pan out but I heard that Whoopi got a “big kick” out of her new doll.
