He’s Totally Crackers! Needle Felting a Character Doll

Share

I sat down with the intention of needle felting a character doll. Not just any doll, but a buddy for another doll I just finished. I was so in love with Alice, I had to make him a buddy.

Meet Alice's New Bro', Crackers. Needle felted character dolls by Kay Petal

Let me introduce Crackers (on the left.) A fun loving Australian beach dude livin’ it up on the shores of a lake in Alaska with his bro’ Alice!

I sat down with the same Norwegian C1 wool batting I used for Alice and the same green merino roving for his needle felted eyes, I just started poking and let the wool come to life.

Without using wire armatures, getting the size and scale correct is my first challenge when needle felting a character to match another.

He is so full of it. He makes me laugh every time I look at him with his skimpy speedos and his beer belly out to get some sun while enjoying a cold one.

After I finished him, a needle felting friend in Australia told me his name is Crackers because that’s what they call the beer-bellied guys that are seen having a great time on the Australian beaches.
